Finish Prep

The Finish Prep is responsible for preparing and sanding various woods and finishes to prepare for application of finish.  As a finisher prep, you will be hands-on, handling the pre-preparation of custom pieces for our projects.  You will be working in the Finishing Department in a flow-based production environment. Must be self-motivated and work effectively in a team environment.  

Required Skills

• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

• Knowledge of various finish techniques, applications, and products

• Detail oriented

• High quality standards 

• Ability to use hand tools correctly and safely 

• Good eye for color matches

• Appropriately use PPE

Primary Responsibilities

• Care and maintenance of sanding equipment.

• Sand custom woodwork and various materials for lacquer-based products, clear finishes, and various finishes.

• Continuously monitor your progress to optimize the efficiency of projects.

• Be able to finish prep accurately and consistently.

• Occasional job site trips.

• Understanding all aspects of bringing cabinetry to finish.

• Consistently reproduce quality finish preparation.

Shared Responsibilities

• Coordinate with lead finisher and project manager for task and deadlines.

• Finish prep.

• Report inventory and consumables to lead finisher.

• Documenting special procedures for future tracking.

• Loading and unloading truck.

• Wrapping and packing.

• Disposal of Hazardous materials.
